Home Base Cedar County Program:

Home Base Iowa Cedar County program offers area businesses a valuable tool to acquire the qualified employees they need by offering incentives to new county veterans or transitioning service members as they make our Cedar County  communities the place to live and work. By becoming a State of Iowa Home Base Cedar County Business partner and hiring a veteran who is new to the county, CCEDCO can help you offer up to $2500 in incentives to your new employee. By matching up Veterans looking for jobs with businesses looking for quality employees, the Home Base Iowa program is a win/win for everyone. Small Business Association:
SBA offers a variety of loan programs. The SBA Guaranteed Loan Program is able to help a local lender finance most any business need. The SBA can help facilitate a loan for you with lender, guarantee a bond, or help you find venture capital. One of the programs is the CDC/504 Loan Program that provides financing for major fixed assets such as equipment or real estate.

SCORE East Central Iowa:
This Cedar Rapids-based organization is comprised of former CEO's, business owners, and company managers who volunteer their time to assist with small business startups. SCORE members regularly teach business classes at Kirkwood Community College and assist with business plans, financing options, marketing strategies and more. Small Business Development Centers (SBDC):
Theses centers are committed to entrepreneurial development throughout the State of Iowa. The SBDC that serves Cedar County is located at the University of Iowa in Iowa City and is associated with the Tippie College of Business and IOWA Centers for Enterprise. The center works with the School of Management to provide research, counseling, and assistance to businesses. Call 319-335-3742 for more information.  SBDC also provides extensive information about starting a new business.

Iowa Economic Development Authority:
IEDA offers financial and technical assistance programs ranging from low-interest, forgivable loans, monetary grants and technical assistance. The application process requires submitting a Project Review Form. Once submitted, the form is reviewed to determine which programs the business may be eligible for. Tax & Other Incentives (State):
The State of Iowa is extremely serious about business growth which is reflected in the State’s tax policies. Iowa offers a variety of avenues for financial assistance to assist with relocations and expansions to locations within Iowa. Assistance is provided in the form of loans and/or forgivable loans, and is based in part on job creation, capital investment, the ability to meet certain wage standards, quality of employment, and economic benefits for the state and local community.

USDA Rural Development:
The US Department of Agriculture's Rural Development initiative administers many assistance programs intended to foster economic development in rural areas. The regional office is located in Tipton, and the staff will work with you to determine what programs will work for your business. Rural Development offers guaranteed business loans, rural economic development grants, value-added producer grants, and more. Contact the Tipton office at 563-886-6006, Ext. 4 for more information.
