Quality community development usually takes small incremental steps. It is usually a process that at times can feels overwhelming for everyone involved. That is why it is good to know there is help out there to make the job a little easier. One such tool to help is Iowa Economic Development Authority Downtown Development Resource Center. The Iowa Downtown Resource Center a State of Iowa department committed to helping communities in revitalizing their downtowns or commercial districts; the heart of any community. Their signature program of the Downtown Resource Center is Main Street Iowa. A 25 year old program that has had substantial impact on towns across the state of Iowa in their efforts to build strong more vital communities. Their qualified staff can provide technical assistance to communities through training opportunities, providing referrals, raising awareness of the importance of downtowns.

Jim Engle, Director of the Downtown Resource Center will be speaking on October 12 at 10:30 am to discuss how his qualified staff can provide technical assistance to communities through training opportunities, providing referrals, raising awareness of the importance of downtowns.
